A Few Tips to Make a Good Impression on an Interview

When was the last time you did not pass a certain interview? Have you tried recalling what you told the interviewer that made him give you thumbs down? For job hunters, do you usually prepare what to answer for the undying questions that these companies ask their applicants?

Let me give you an overview of my experience as an Interviewer. In 2002 until 2005, I worked as a Human Resources Assistant for a Networking Company where I handled both the Recruitment and the Benefits and Compensations of over a hundred employees. It is not easy being the Interviewer as well as being the Interviewee.

Airline Dispatcher Job Sites

In several related articles I made mention of finding work as a flight coordinator, as a flight attendant, or as a pilot. Each specialty, as you can imagine, has its own requirements, hence the job sites that feature these types of opportunities are not always the same. If you have some idea where to look – besides contacting an employer directly – you can narrow down your searches and, hopefully, shorten the entire job hunting process. The following list contains some of the sites that are most helpful in listing viable opportunities for airline dispatchers.

Aviation Employment Board – This site offers free registration and allows for you to post your resume for free as well. Airlines featured include United, Continental, Trans States, Spirit, Southwest, Northwest, Mesa, EOS, Champion, Pace, and a host of others including many European and Asian carriers. Please visit www.aviationemploymentboard.net for more detailed information.

1) Build a Relationship With Your Boss:

Like it or not, no single individual has a greater impact on your career future than your direct supervisor. So, how do you get on their good side from the start? Managers want to feel that you truly care, and that you are “in it with them” as a team. Bring your boss solutions, not problems. When a problem arises, take initiative to consider what alternatives are available. Don’t just throw the problem on their desk and have them figure it out. Always ask your boss for advice on what you or the company could do better. Offer to stay late for projects, even if they might not be your responsibility. Amazingly, many Americans rush out the door at 4:59 without even saying “Goodnight.”

A sample job acceptance letter should be kept on the computer of job seekers to be customized for a new situation and used when it is needed. A job seeker should also know how to use it, and when to use it. With that in mind, a sample letter follows.

Name of Hiring Manager
Company
Address
City

Successful Careers Facing Outsourcing

January 7, 2009 · Filed Under Careers, Employment · Comment

With outsourcing expected to switch to high gear in the coming years, many employees ask the question of how they can a) survive and b) succeed in this global competition with low-wage countries like India or China.

Often people most concerned about outsourcing and global workforce competition are well educated. They worked hard to get where they are today and were hoping to have some sort of job security due to the level of education and training they have received. But the rules have changed – fast. Also - working hard and putting in a lot of over-time to please management is not enough anymore. Yet, here you are stuck in a job facing to be outsourced sooner or later to some low-wage country. What else can you do to make yourself more competitive?

One of the most important decisions we make is our choice of career or job, however many of us literally “fall into” a career without much forethought and simply follow our peers/parents/family wishes.

But how would one actually go about choosing a career path - where would you begin? Try the following steps, hopefully these will provide a good starting point to begin narrowing down which sort of career would at least be suitable for you, if not something you could excel in!
